TiviMate is one of the most widely used IPTV players for televisions that run Android TV, Google TV or Fire OS. It is popular for one reason above all: its guide looks and behaves like a traditional cable or satellite grid, and it is designed entirely around a remote control. TiviMate is a player only — it contains no channels of its own — so you need a login from your provider.

What you need

  • A TV device running Android TV, Google TV or Fire OS
  • Your login: server URL, username and password
  • A few minutes for the first channel and guide download

TiviMate is built for TVs. It is not a good choice for phones; pick a touch-first player there instead. See the Android guide.

Step 1: Install TiviMate

On Android TV and Google TV, open Google Play, search for TiviMate and install it.

On a Firestick running Fire OS, check the Amazon Appstore first. If it is not listed for your device, it can be installed from the developer's own website using the Downloader app; our Downloader guide explains the process and the safety checks. Firesticks that run Vega OS cannot install it.

Step 2: Add your playlist

  1. Open TiviMate and choose Add playlist.
  2. Select Xtream Codes.
  3. Enter the server address, including http:// or https:// and the port.
  4. Enter your username and password. Both are case-sensitive.
  5. Choose Next. TiviMate connects and shows a summary with the number of channels and, usually, the account's expiry date.
  6. Give the playlist a name and finish.

If the connection fails, the cause is almost always a typing slip in the server address. The login guide lists the common ones.

Step 3: Let the guide load

TiviMate downloads guide data in the background after the playlist is added. On a streaming stick this can take a few minutes. Open the guide with the remote's left button or the menu, and you should see programme titles filling in.

If the guide stays empty, go to Settings → EPG and choose Update EPG. If times are an hour or more out, look under Settings → EPG for the time offset, or under Settings → General for the time zone. More detail is in our EPG troubleshooting guide.

Step 4: Make it yours

Hide what you do not watch

Open Settings → Playlists, choose your playlist and then Manage groups. Untick the categories you never use. A shorter list makes the app faster and the guide far easier to scan.

Build a favourites group

Highlight a channel, hold the select button and choose Add to favourites. Favourites appear as their own group at the top.

Choose how the guide looks

Settings → Appearance controls the size of the grid, whether channel logos are shown and how many rows fit on screen.

What Premium adds

The free version is enough to check that your login works and to watch. The paid Premium tier unlocks the features that make TiviMate worth choosing for daily use, including multiple playlists, favourites management, catch-up controls where the source supports it, recording to storage and more customisation.

Premium is purchased through the developer's companion app on an Android phone, linked to an account you then sign in to on the TV. It is a payment to the developer, separate from your IPTV subscription. Check the current price and device allowance in the app before buying.

Useful playback settings

  • Settings → Playback → Buffer size — increase one step if you see brief stutters.
  • Decoder — if a channel shows a black screen with sound, switch between hardware and software.
  • Auto frame rate — turn this on so that 50 Hz and 60 Hz channels play at their native rate; your TV device's own frame-rate matching setting must also allow it.

If stutters continue after that, the cause is likely outside the app. Work through fix IPTV buffering.

Frequently asked questions

Is TiviMate free?

There is a free tier with core playback. Many features require the paid Premium upgrade from the developer.

Does TiviMate work on Samsung or LG TVs?

No. Those TVs do not run Android apps. Use a player from the TV's own store, or add an Android-based streaming device. See the Smart TV guide.

Yes, TiviMate accepts M3U playlists, but the Xtream Codes option gives you the guide and account details automatically. See M3U vs Xtream Codes.

Why can't I find TiviMate on my iPhone?

It is an Android TV app. Apple devices need a player from the App Store — see the Apple guide.
